In late 2019 fires began to burn uncontrollably in my homeland of New South Wales, Australia. I currently live in London and I watched from afar as the fires took control of the country, until it felt like a large part of my homeland was on fire.

A vase of tulips sat on my table in my London flat, overlooking the wet, soggy parklands of my local park. The contrast between the tulips' perfect, delicate flowers and the extreme violence of the fires in my homeland couldn't have been more apparent.

And so, with that vase of tulips in view, I began to produce this work,  my images and my mind full of fire.
